A woman's worth?

I have always loved this song. So, i finally decided to go find the lyrics, and here they are. Now, I'm not too sure what the song means. Apparently, its main themes are childbirth as well the importance of a woman.

Presenting.... This woman's work- By Maxwell

Pray God you can cope.
I stand outside this woman's work,
This woman's world.
Ooh, it's hard on the man,
Now his part is over.
Now starts the craft of the father.

I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.

I should be crying,
but I just can't let it show.
I should be hoping,
but I can't stop thinking
Of all the things I should've said,
That I never said.
All the things we should've done,
That we never did.
All the things I should've given,
But I didn't.
Oh, darling, make it go,
Make it go away.

Give me these moments back.
Give them back to me.
Give me that little kiss.
Give me your hand.

(I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.)

I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things we should've said,
That were never said.
All the things we should've done,
That we never did.
All the things that you needed from me.
All the things that you wanted for me.
All the things that I should've given,
But I didn't.

Oh, darling, make it go away.
Just make it go away now.

Hope for hope?

Who am I?
Where am I?
What the hell changed?
Lord, I’m searching!
Lord, I’m hoping!
Please don’t let me lose me.
I really can’t do this without You.
Hear me cry out!

Who am I?
Where am I?
What the hell changed?
I’m scared!
Not because of what may happen,
But that I don’t care anymore.
I want to care
I want to care…again.

Medicine is life

So one day, after watching Grey's Anatomy...well several episodes of Grey's Anatomy (online), I came up with this. Again, this isn't quite finished, but here it goes!

Medicine is life.
I am amazed at what the hands can do.
I am often left speechless by what they can help produce.
Hands can turn the most common of vegetables into the most mouth-watering of dishes.
Hands allow us to reproduce nature on paper.
With our hands we draw, we paint and in effect, we mark time.
A doctor’s hand provides hope.
A doctor’s hand provides change.
A doctor’s hand provides comfort.
A doctor’s hand sustains life.
Medicine is life.

Medicine is life.
My education, my thoughts, my decisions, my hands
My patient hopefully is given another chance.
Being able to somewhat enter another human being
Being able to offer a partial or complete solution
A secret aphrodisiac?
Medicine is life.

Medicine is life.
Oh, the knowing hands of a surgeon! I long to make you mine.
Knowing where to make that first cut with the scalpel,
Knowing exactly where and how to maneuver,
Knowing when to take that risk you were warned about.
My hands long for that freedom
The adrenalin, the rush, the never dull brain cells
The mind constantly striving to solve a life-saving puzzle.
In this state, I am alive.
In this state, I am medicine.
Medicine is life.

Service

This poem was pretty much the motto of my community service club in High school. However, I think it can be applied to many more areas in our lives.
Here, Tagore gives us his interpretation of joy, and how it can be achieved (he had it all figured out in the 19th century!).
Short and simple.Enjoy!

I slept and dreamt that life was joy.

I awoke and saw that life was service.

I acted and behold, service was joy.

-Rabindranath Tagore

Sometimes/(Christmas cheer?)

I was a little angry when I wrote this; angry at myself for sometimes missing the bigger picture.
It's not quite done, but here it goes!

Sometimes, it’s all about you!
You need to get this, you need to get that
I need to go on a diet
I must have that outfit
It’s me, myself and I
What? I deserve it
‘Cos I’m hot

Times like this you think, you wonder
There must be more to life
It’s not just me, myself and I
There is a beauty in Christmas
There is a beauty in giving
Giving time, giving friendship, giving love
‘Cos Christmas is hot

Remember the real reason for the season this holiday.
We are celebrating Jesus’ birth
What eventually led to us receiving the priceless gift of salvation
Let’s celebrate our gift by giving
Give someone something this Christmas.
Give time, give friendship, give love
‘Cos that’s hot!

May you all truly have a merry Christmas!
May you experience God’s love this season
And may it carry over into the new year
‘Cos really, that’s what’s hot!

Food for thought..mmm
